A fantastic WC member suggested that i might like to try something more complicated. Now I’m not convinced, however to have a play (and because I know I am not always right) I decided to have a go.
Here is what i came up with
hmmmmm what to paint
Having got my current painting to a stage where it really needs to dry between each minor adjustment. I need a new project. Also as my art classes have finished till end of January, i don’t want to work on it without my tutor’s help. So i’m starting some new projects to keep me occupied and to practice what i have learnt the past four weeks.
here are some greyscale images of what i am playing with.
Ignore the background, that will be plain, you can just see the back of the chair under the sheet. That wont be there in the painting.

Also again, i have taken a cm out of this picture, Which i would have to edit out of the painting. I like this composition better.
It needs to work next to the pear painting I have started.
ANYONE HAVE AN OPINIONS ON THE COMPOSITION??
I wish that i had a better camera to take better photos, but i don’t so these will have to do.
Here are the results from my second and third oil painting class. Please remember that these are still not finished. Also honestly trying to photograph a wet oil painting is horrible!!!
Remind me not to try again.
Here they are, I have decided to do two copies of every painting so i can really practice the techniques and improve. Hopefully.
As you can see, the photo above shows what the painting looked like before i glazed in the colour.
To do the glazes i was using liquol and transparent colours, except when i needed white for the highlights. From this first painting, i have learnt that the while can dull down and make the painting muddy. In future efforts i need to be more careful with the while paint.
Other than that, considering this is my first attempt at oils in class, i think this is a good start. There are still many more layers to go on the pears yet however. Will keep you posted on how it goes.

So I have now been to two art classes. Having a play at home, i decided to draw a bowl of fruit. As we have been drawing fruit in class I thought this was appropriate.
Here are my first efforts.
Can’t wait till next week. I am starting an actual painting in painting class. Only a painting of a pear. I have a feeling i’ll be drawing and painting pears for a while….lol
I’ll keep you posted.
